I'm a little embarrassed to show how disastrous our bedroom is. It's the only room in the house that we haven't sorted out. I'm confounded by the shape--one slanted wall, and strange little dividers sticking out (we're not sure if they're structural, so would like to avoid taking them out). We have one small closet, and a makeshift one that's an eyesore. We're ready to get our excellent contractor to build a closet--but I don't know what to tell him.

Right now our bed is wedged in the back space--it's cozy, but it's really about six inches too snug.

The logical thing might be to make the whole back half of the bedroom a walk-in closet area, but honestly, we just don't have a lot of clothes. And the windows in the back give nice light--it seems a shame to block them off.

The divider wall on the west side sticks out only about 20 inches, so not quite deep enough for a closet on that wall. I think it would have to be on the south wall. But then how to deal with the existing closet?

Also, we have crown molding--should we just build a closet up to that level, like a bookcase, or up to the ceiling?
