For a more spacious feel, it would be best to keep your flooring consistent throughout your home. Adding another element or texture has a tendency to visually break up the space. Hope this helps!

I agree with Jamieson especially considering the size of your space. There is one exception I would like to mention. I am not a big fan of hardwood floors in wet areas. If you wanted to do hardwood floors everywhere except the kitchen and bathroom, the stone would work great as a low maintenance material for the wet areas. I have designed several spaces with hardwood floors combined with stone in wet areas. Stone is a harder material and you can soften stone floors with runners. Hope that helps. Charmean Neithart
