H there! Unless you're into Art Deco (and even then, the look of this FP is questionable), I would plan to yank off those tiles once you take possession - and preferably before you move in - and do something a little more modern and low key.

It wouldn't take much to revamp this fireplace - it just needs new tile that doesn't wrap around the corner like the current tile.

Expect to have to do some drywall repair.
