Thanks, Dytecture. I forgot to mention that there is already black roof shingles in place and we're thinking a dark wood front door and garage door. What do you think about a dark gray/blue?

Light yellow (cream) would be a nice contrast to the dark shingles. If the porch is un-finished it would benefit from some standing seam metal roof (in a dark color as well). The water table should be a bit higher (to the bottom of the windows on the first floor) it should also go around the entire front. Possibly the entire front of the garage (though that side is already a bit "heavy"

This greige exterior, creamy trim and gray/taupe stone would be gorgeous in a natural lake setting.

Here are a few samples of some combinations that may play well with dark roof. I usually go to some of the paint sites on the web and play with colors. Most of the sites are very intuitive and have a lot to offer.
