The furniture can create the zones. Then you'll need much larger rugs to anchor the seating. Moving TV is well worth any $$ involved. I'd put it right of the FP where the lonely chair is. Move the kids study stand under the window where the sofa is now, and add the lonely chair left of the window. Place the piano where the TV and credenza are now. Float the sofa where the single leather chair is now, with front feet on a larger rug. Place the two leather chairs right and left of it, facing each other over a coffee table. Try a glass and metal one to add shine and reflectivity to the darkness. I think you should unify and add some softness, color and pattern with mock/faux roman valances over your shades throughout the space.

I agree with decoenthusiaste on all points. and the tv could be moved in a budget friendly way if you don't want to mount it. you could get a nice larger tv stand that is dark in color to go with the stone, and fits right into the space to the right of the fireplace.

You could also paint your TV credenza, but perhaps a bright accent color would be a nice touch.

I have asked my husband if we could mount TV onto fireplace but with no power point cable and the FP is only a tiled facade not actual brick, he doesn't think we should place TV there. I am willing to move TV into another room completely if it's out of place. But it might make the room a bit 'empty'. I was thinking of placing a off white ottoman in the centre to define 2 areas of the room. Currently the FP is in the middle of the room. Happy to take suggestions re: floor rugs, cushions, wall hanging colours to tie the burgundy sofas in together....

If I move the TV and credenza over to the right of the FP where current 'lonely tub chair' sits, would it be odd to have the upright black piano on the left of the FP, under the floating shelves?

That side of your room will certainly start to get heavy with all the larger, darker items on it, and the side where there are few walls and lots of windows will feel light - that may even give the space a "tilted" feeling. The idea of the piano being opposite the FP is so it can serve as a visual counter balance to the weightiness of the FP. If you paint the credenza for the TV, keep it light feeling too.
