Is this furniture set to big for my space?

This couch is 100 inches long, the love seat is 72 inches long and the chair is 49 inches wide. I was hesitant as I didn't think it would fit, and would make my large family look squished.

Store talked me into it, we did all kinds of mock set ups and kindly said I could return if in fact it didn't fit. My second option was a bit more modern, a darker cream shade, but smaller. Couch 90, love seat 69, and chair 42.

What do you think?

Actually the way the couches are organized makes the space of the room bigger. I think the space goes with the couches and I think they look splendid together, even the colors.

curious to see what the interior design types say about this one...

Not a designer so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I don't think it fits. The love seat blocks the slider and the chair is angled away from the other seats.

I think the couch and loveseat look fine, but the ginormous chair with the ottoman look way too big and awkward. A second loveseat across from the other one would look less bulky and would be more functional.

Not a fan of all the white couches with the plain white rug. A blue and white patterned rug would make the room more interesting and would also not show every speck of dirt.

It's too big, and it's way too matchy. Keep the sofa return the rest, replace with...I was going to say two armchairs, but how many people do you have to seat?

Not a designer and going through my own family room issues, but I think it is too big.

I also think its too big, well the chair anyway. It faces the best view in the room though, so would prefer to keep a chair option open. If too matchy, matchy......suggestions on how to not compete with teal ottoman? Luv, luv all your comments and posts!

You could bring in grey or yellow.

I have a small room like this and made mistake of buying too much furniture for it. It feels overstuffed. Love your color scheme, but I'd follow advice to move loveseat to opposite wall and return big chair and ottoman, comfortable as they look. Like the idea of changing out rug and bringing in an interesting pattern. You're almost there!

Too much big furniture and not enough rug! replace one of the chairs with a wood framed accent chair and replace the ottoman with a cocktail table.

Since you still have the option to return, let me suggest that furniture with legs will have less visual weight and make the space feel more open. Examples below:

For a chair or chairs, you could do a pop of color, or something like the blue pattern below:

Begone, large chaise and matching ottoman. If it's for watching TV or reading, temporarily move over the blue ottoman to put your feet up. Move love seat to that side of the room so it faces windows. Accent with one of groveraxel's upholstered chairs by the sliding doors. Get a bigger rug, not necessarily monochromatic--white with touch of blue or whatever accent color you pick up from painting or chair.

Not a pro but doesn't look too big for the roome to me. I would suggest though like previously stated, new rug and bigger with varying shades of blue. Love the picture behind furniture. Can it be hung on the walls ? Add some blue pilows in varying shades and wider ceiling light and I think your room would look great. Just needs a little tweaking.

I'm agreeing about the the rug being too smal. The room is 228 inches in length, so a bigger rug is necessary. Also the idea of furniture with legs.....the pouches are very overstuffed, so the room appears over stuffed.

I moved the ottoman away from big chair, and the painting to the opposite wall. I tried the love seat on the other side, didn't flow right. Chair is going, ottoman is going, rug is going. Still deciding on the couches....have 48 hours to decide!

I would have added a second chair, but they were all pointing forward. But you've probably got room for one with a table in between.

Before returning, try exchanging love seat and single chair. Don't pull the love seat right up to the couch as it is now...move in down a bit so it looks less crowded. Place the single chair across the corner of the rug on an angle facing the couch. It looks matchy now, but when you add a colored rug and an assortment of more vibrant pillows and a throw over the back of the single chair, it may work, as it's just a soft neutral room. houzz=

My preference would be the large sofa and blue hassock/coffee with a pair of print chairs. If you need to seat more than six, you could "L" two of the large sofas and add a pair of armless chairs to make a "U." IMO loveseats never work well, are hard to arrange and two people can't sit comfortably on them and converse with each other.

I think you have too many of the same elements, (plush and large furniture). I would say, keep the main sofa, replace the loveseat with a different, more lighter style, along with a pattern fabric. The smaller one should be replaced with a wooden arm chair, ottoman to be replaced with a coffee table instead. You can always have the same idea with including these furnishings into the space, its just a more lighter approach. This will not only enhance the space by giving it a little bit of personality, (great opportunity to work with color) you will also notice how much larger your space really is.

Groveraxle, I have been recommended to seek your advice on my project. (sorry to hijack) would you please take a look at my thread: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/need-advice-modernizing-ranch-house-dsvw-vd~1201075

    Thank you!!

I would take back the love seat. Chair and matching ottoman look comfy. If there is room add 2 smaller armchairs in a print that will tie in with the teal ottoman in front of the slider. Pull them in so you can get to the door. Update drapes with coordinating pattern and colors. Also bright pillows! (It looks like someone really likes the chair!!)
