I would recommend an earthy gold or yellow. Teal would be a second choice.

The sectional is an espresso brown. It's called Tulsa Dark Brown.

We probably need more photos and to know if your room is open to other rooms and any other colors that need to be incorporated.

I would stay with plain, white drapes so the rug can shine.

You will need to add more gray in the room, to pull the rug in. You could do that with additional chairs or pillows.

I have just moved and pretty much sold everything. I don't have anything yet except the rug and the leather sectional which is on the way. Here are some additional photos but none of this furniture is staying. Its just temporary.
I also have benches that are going to be used at a wooden dining table. The room is 1000 sq feet and is a open living room, dinette, and kitchen with dark cabinets and Venetian Gold Granite.

I love it! But this is exactly why I do a design plan before purchasing anything. You fall in love with something and then you could start making decisions on that purchase rather than on what makes sense for the room as an end result. But this rug is very nice!

Love what you are thinking but I think you need solid drapes. The West Elm choice competes a bit with the rug.

I also do not know how to do a design plan nor would I know where to look for stuff once I made my plan, so I just needed to get something I really really liked and try to build from there. All the comments have helped guide me in the right direction so I really appreciate it. I don't see undertones in color very well, I am extremely challenged when it comes to design and I my taste is all over the board. Thanks for all the help. I LOVE the pillows

You are most welcome. Even though I love West Elm's merchandise, for drapes, I would suggest for a reasonable price and good quality, go to Penney's. They have a wide choice and you can see what you are getting. You might have to order a different length, but they all send them to your home, no shipping charge. You can always return if you don't like them.

Love the rug & sofa. You just need some other things to pull it together; pillows, art, print chair, etc.

I like your rug! What is the name of the rug and where did you purchase it?

I got super lucky with the rug. I actually picked it up at Home Goods. I couldn't believe it was 100% wool. When I get back to the house I will look on the underside for a tag or name brand and I will certainly post it.

Carol-when you say print chair that's where I'm going to struggle. I've been looking at this Marlow Mocha. Is it a fit?

Probably not Marlowe Mocha but a grayish print?

The rug is lovely. I agree to add golden yellow for accents, pillows, art, and drapes! Incorporate the sofa color and gray in your art. Look through Houzz pics for "yellow and grey decor". You will get some ideas of how to pull it all together! Have fun

With your rug. Make sure you order fabric samples first. You could also consider looking locally.

Also, is there enough room for chairs. I find that people often buy sectionals that are way too large for the space. I would first see what the sectional looks like in your space.

I love this rug. It pops off the dark woods so well and I think the dark sofa will look beautiful on it. Work on pulling more grey tones from it since it tends to have that grey blue look to it. Using more greys will pull out the grey in it. Also don't be afraid to go with different grey colors. Don't feel like you need to match the rug color exactly. Have fun with it. When it comes to draperies and pillows you can always buy a few different choices and play around with it and return what doesn't look right to you. Good luck!

Thanks for all the additional and great feedback. I've measured the sectional and it is just a RHF sofa and LHF sofa chaise. It is 122x91 and there is still plenty of room for an end table and a club chair.

This is the sectional. Just ordered in a rich deep brown leather

I'd like to use these oars-would they work in the room with the rug? I was going to hand them over a console table or incorporate them in a gallery wall. If I do not use the oars on gallery wall was going to get a big roman numerical clock and some other accents to add interest to the gallery wall.

Also I was considering this console table-
I also like the other piece of furniture as well but with the console table I like the idea of being able to store a basket of blankets or pillows under it or an extra ottoman for additional seating
And this is light I was considering for over the dinette area.

-the sectional appears to be quite massive for the size of the room. Need more photos.
-love the idea of using the oars, but cannot make suggestions w/o more photos.
-neither console table reflects the photos you have in your idea book.
-the chandelier does reflect the style of your idea book.

if there is a tv that needs to be incorporated

I'd have to agree with Vickie Daeley. It is a beautiful rug, but I always recommend starting with a plan and adding accessories after the primary pieces are selected.

The wall where the 122" sofa will go is 178" and the 91" portion of the wall where sectional will go is 123".
The sofa sofa chaise will open to the fireplace. There are 3 window along the big wall the sofa will go against. The bare wall is where I am thinking of adding a console table and the oars
It is open to a dinning area and a kitchen. Total space is 1000 sq ft

Kitchen is before appliances were installed but you get a feel for the openness of the floor plan.

And what is a design plan??

Pardon my inability to draw but here is my design plans/or how I want the room laid out.
You can see where the sofa will go, tv will be placed and where I plan to include a chair and console table. Also you can see how the dining table separates the kitchen and living spaces.

Space planning, knowledge of fabric, furniture, colors, textures. as well as the client's budget, etc is used in by the designer.

A good design takes time, skill and thoughtfulness.

Once the client approves of the design, only then is furniture purchased.

A good designer puts quite a bit of time into a design.

Have you considered placing the sectional with its back to dr table and the chaise along the window? Then tv on the wall where you now want the gallery wall?

Will the tv above the fireplace be too high for you or is that a comfortable height?

Thanks!! Well after months of shopping and not wanting t to compromise on style I finally found a company that makes a leather sofa exactly how I want it (tufted seats, and a sofa chaise)
I know I definitely want that. Now I need to make this rug work-because it was such a deal and I really like that too. I don't have much other furniture to consider. Just can't see colors well and not sure how to accent. I am earthy tones person so I like the mustard yellows. And I do not see grey in this rug at all-I see like a slate blue, so I guess that means there are grayish undertones. CDR thanks for all the awesome suggestions and help. I found additional photos and posted them for you as well.

I think you need more than two colors in your rug. And the two different “browns” should be incorporated.

I would also consider painting the walls in this watery blue to give the large sectional a backdrop.

You are welcome! You can work with the rug and the sectional you bought. The rug does tend to look a little bluish. On my monitor, it looks more gray, though.

Whatever the color is, bring a photo with you as you shop, and try to pick up a similar color in accents.

I love your rug, and any color will work with it since it's a neutral. Pick your favorite!
