I have hardwood floor stairs that I am considering covering for two reasons: I have an elderly dog who is starting to slip on the hardwood and I have an elderly mom who visits and I worry abut her slipping as well. I don't want to cover the entire stair and I am concerned about durability and fibers (we have allergies), The stairs are the first thing you see upon entering our home, so that is a concern too. Our front entry has black granite ( I believe it is called Black Granite Pearl) with grey specks that changes from very dark, to light depending on the light. My walls are Louisburg Green from Benjamin Moore. Also, do you think if I put a runner on the stairs, I would need to carry it down on to the entry way hallway with a coordinating runner?
