We traveled long and far to buy some bargain console furniture. We've already painted the mirror. I'm definitely going to paint the table. Will painting it white look too matchy? I'm thinking those lamps are too small?? And I should probably get another color lamp? The rest of the room is purples and pinks. Any suggestions (other than buying more furniture) is greatly appreciated!!!

You could fill in the area between mirror and console with your decor items as in photo attached. The items are larger so you don't need a lot to fill it in. The BecinSC photo above shows the same idea, but with a print leaned on wall.

I'd paint console same as mirror....add glass knobs. Lamps? Mmmm I'd go with deep purple glass lamp with silver or patterned shade. If you can't find that go silver base with purple shades.

Now if you want to be adventurous, add purple stripe to console:)

Thanks, Maureen. Love the pictures you posted. I agree regarding placing the mirror lower. Only problem though is that people would have to duck to view themselves in it! It's a dilemma.

It's a very narrow mirror and that is a bit of the problem I guess. Of the two choices, I would lower...is there a need for people to see themselves at this location? If you lower, send a picture before and after and maybe other people can weight in for you, to help.

The mirror is great ...love the paint...but the scale and style of table seem off..painting to match will help ...but when I look at that mirror I see a row of hooks across the bottom for coats, hats, etc

Seeing your funiture and accessories, I might be tempted to keep the table as is. Would the rust color art in the other room work here instead of the mirror? Then maybe the mirror might work in it's place and you could piant it to suit that room? The pic below is sort of what that area would look like. [houzz=

Distress both table and mirror. Change lamp shades to a darker color and new hardware.

Maybe try painting only the top of the table... Then choose lamps with wood..lots of cool old lamps in thrift stores that can be re- wired for very little ...then you have a vintage look that will tie in with the mirror.. Also consider one lamp in the middle to allow a more artsy choice

Mirror is so cute and unique. I wonder if you could use it over the couch with some other smaller mirrors also with unique frames around it , all painted the same color. It just doesn't looks right with the console.

Raise mirror for the face, put either plates under it or window box with grass plants or photos, art. Yes white wash table, it will be interesting.

I like the comments from Happyleg. Paint table a rough white, maybe change knobs to unmatching knobs. Add lots of things under mirror, and maybe just one large old fashioned lamp on one end. I like your idea!

Mirror is too small or the table is not tall enough. Proportion issue it seems to me. Unless you can raise the mirror and then hang something/things under the mirror between it and the table. Tall lamp/lamps are more in order in my opinion.

What about flipping the mirror upside down?

Hi, nice table, and mirror. Try painting bottom of table...leave top. Add baskets same shade as top underneath. I think one lamp is fine...neither of what u have. Add a crock, or vase, picture frame, or small statue of some kind. Less is always more. I like to make a pile to chose from....then add, move, take away till u get what u like. Good luck!

Lamps are too short, table is too low, mirror is too long. Should be 75% of the table's width. Are you doing shabby chic throughout?
