The layout of my living room is such that the furniture faces the fireplace and the kitchen/dining area would be behind you. The problem I am having is that our 50" 3D Sony Bravia will not fit into the spaces to the left and right of the fireplace. the cut outs are about 6" too small. This leaves mounting over the fireplace as the only place. The problem with mounting over the fireplace is that the living area isn't that big and the couches will be less than 10' from the wall/fireplace. This means that the angle will be uncomfortable for viewing.
I've told my fiance that over the fireplace is the only place that the tv will not look hideous. She doesn't want to have to strain to watch tv and thinks its a horrible idea. While i agree, i don't see a better option.
