I know you are leaning toward composite shingles on the roof. I would love to see it a red barrel tile roof if the structure will support it and the cost works for you. If the roof was red or red brown I would go back to a warm white on the stucco.

Keep the brown trim as is.

I would consider repainting or stripping and staining the front door to match the trim better.

I love the look of a warm yellow on the stucco inside the porch. It is a little more contemporary, but oh so cool and will match your yellow pots.

Increase the size and detail of the black iron light over the archway to the porch.

Paint the skirt/watertable a couple of shades of white darker than the field white. Test and consider painting the watertable trim line to match the trim color.

Trim back the shrub on the left.

I love your suggestions! We do have to keep the front door a lighter color. When it was dark it got so hot from the sun that you almost burnt your hand to open the door!

Ouch! sounds like a big shade tree is needed in the front yard.

The Owen-Corning roofing site has a great visualizing tool. I picked a cottage to view all the roof choices with different paint palettes and found four that I think your house would look super in - all with a yellow door! Owen- Corning uses Benjamin Moore Paint. (Which I have used for over 30 years.) You match colors to SW.

After you reroof, you might want to upgrade to a larger gutter and leader system too. Then you can paint the gutters and leaders to match, if you have to. Paint the window sashes to match to window trim.

I recommend that the large shrub get pruned heavily. The small ornamental tree would be happier out in the yard more and a bit to the right, so it could grow without blocking your lovely house.

By the way, I like the Aged Copper shingles the best because of the color mix in the shingles and I like the paint choices too. It would be a new look for your house either way. Although these looks are similar, they are three different roof choices.

Mary- Don't sweat the choice to much. We always feel we are blending style. I don't feel choosing a specific style is the best way design. Your house exhibits both qualities in different ways and so it may be best not to choose. The budget also drives the direction of design as much as style. For instance if you cannot do the tile roof if may lead you in a different direction. Sometime this where hiring a professional would be a big help.

DeWitt, that comment made my day. Owning a period home we want to respect its age and design integrity and yet make it personal to us. We purchased this house in an older neighborhood also to bring homeowners back to look at these homes and see that they are gems. Our home is the only one of this style and we do get people slowing down to look at it, so we want it to shine.

Love to do the tile roof, but redo budget doesn't support that choice. Other major projects in the works, also. Thanks so much for your input. Yellow pot worthy!
