What happened with the radiator?

I like the new table and chairs and the rug...change the light fixture back to original. Leave the color on the walls and paint all the trim n moldings, black.

Walls look too hard and stark to me. Drapes or fabric on walls or a cool palette oil painting??

Looks like the same table was used with new chairs. Why the different angle for the after photo? Needs some art.

Why not show the radiator? That was a reason the room looked bad.

I like them both, but I think the unique windows show better in the before picture. Not crazy about the chandelier in the after photo, but as long as the owner is happy, that's what counts.

The room needs an accent color. I like the idea of black trim, but it still needs another color and maybe some plants.

Back wall needs cold or art, looks dull

I would suggest square resin artwork by Rachel Volpone; one square at each end of the windows. These squares are acrylic and resin. They are painted onto canvas and wooden boxes, which gives them a sculptural effect. They come in 8x8, 12x12 and 16x16 size squares.

Personally, I think the room is sort of blah. Except for the rug and chairs, it's so monotone.
To refer to this space transformation as extraordinary is a bit much.
Nothing worng with tooting your own horn, but you really should be able to back it up, and come back here to face your critics. Both for and against the design.

I hope they kept the radiator. I'm guessing they did, because to remove it would mean a different heating system, or just bypassing & not heating this room at all.

I love radiant heat....even better if it's steam.

If you are going to do a "before and after" transformation please be honest enough to show us the same views in similar conditions - lighting especially- and let us know how you dealt with the elephant in the room.
This has the bones of a great transformation but I must agree with other comments it's incomplete as is and the poster ought to do justice to the job and rectify that error.

If you look closely (and enlarge the after picture) the walls and ceiling ARE papered in a gold flame stitch pattern. I am as curious as the others what is going on in the rest of the room. Are any art pieces on the walls, did that radiator got boxed, etc? I think this is a great start with the layered patterns and statement light fixture, but show me the rest of the design!

If you go to the website shown in the write up the rest of the room is quite lovely. More before and after pics. The light fixture (although not my taste) looks much more proportional.

So I guess it's a bad thing that I like the historical look of a radiator, as long it is in good shape. The only thing I don't love is the chandelier. I would have gone for something with some sparkle and a little of the aqua-marine color to pull everything together.

They are staged photos. In the one photo the table/chairs are under the small windows and in another picture same table/chairs are in front of large windows.

Yes.. Though it has been changed and I love the colors they used but still.. It's little bit boring.

I clicked on the link and saw the additional photos. They seem to have hidden the lower portion of the small windows or is that just the angle of the photo? If they did that, why? I think the room needed to be redone, but I would have simply used a milk white paint, put up some artwork and recovered the chairs in an off white linen fabric. It probably did need a more interesting light fixture, but I would have chosen one that was more old fashioned that was more in line with the age of the home (early 1900's?).

I like the eclectic feel of the room now with the light fixture. The scale is better as the before pic revealed furnishing that were way too small for the room. I would agree with taking it further- art, mirrors, dramatic greenery, wallpaper, but not too much more. The architecture if anything should be played up. Thought of painting the trim around the windows instead of the walls?

Beautiful!!! Elegant yet welcoming. I love the simplicity and the wall color is perfect. Maybe add a little colorful artwork on walls but I like it as it is as well. Nice job.

A local Seattle magazine wanted to photograph the design progress and these progress photos are from the magazine shoot. We're currently working on installing the art and accessories, which will really finish this room out as well as finishing the design for the rest of the home. We're adding lots of color and personality to finish out this space. This has been a slow work-in-progress, which has been a fun process with the homeowners!

To address some of the questions, the walls and ceiling have Schumacher wallcovering installed. It is a beaded cream flame stitch pattern, which is hard to see in person but makes a real impact in person. Our clients wanted light, bright, and airy.

We also have not touched the radiators in the home. Firstly, we love the character they add. And, second, we did not have budget to change the heating system out for all 4 stories of this home!

I just took a look at the pictures on the website and I just wanted to add to my previous comments. I really just want to say, Wow! I love the bold use of color, pattern and texture in this house. It is truly rare to find homeowners willing to inject so much personality into their home but what a treat for us all to see! The fish scale dresser and flower lattice armoire are stunning and so visually interesting against the wallpaper. Thank you so much for sharing this project!
