need help with living room!

I need some serious design help with long narrow living room in our new house. One end of the room is a large bay window, and the other end of the long narrow room is a slider to a sun room. I would love advice on color (it is an awful yellow-beige), lighting (we need more!), woodwork (we were considering painting the trim white), curtains, throw pillows, and other furniture options. (placement, different pieces, etc.). Thank you so much!

Here is a quick sketch of the dimensions of the room, with major features (doorways etc). I'm posting from an iPhone, so if this pic doesn't work I'll try again on the computer.

hey, i'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you!

i was just fiddling in paint, and this is the layout i came up with.
the stars are lamps (floor/table/whatever), and the red line is the traffic pattern.
i tried to make sure that TV watching was still comfy but that there was also a separate conversation area for people who don't want to watch tv.

you could also do a small office area in that spot if you need a home office but don't have a separate room for it.
