I've taken the furniture painting plunge this weekend. The black shabby chic coffee table I purchased for its shape and lines is bravely on its way to Ralph Lauren Burnished Gold metallic. I chose this color to tie in with our true antique framed family paintings and photos, which are a bit more muted, as well as with a dark gold in our rug. The rest of our wood furniture is an eclectic mix, so I'm hoping this will be a fun contrast. If not, back to the paint store! :-)

I may (make that "will") need to tone it down when I'm done, and I'd like to enhance the carving on the legs and sides, as well as protect the top. I would love to hear your ideas and product recommendations. Thanks!
