My husband and I are in month five of rehabbing our neglected short sale. We are currently giving some love to our formal dining room. While this is our main eating area in the house, in happy to keep the formality of the space intact.

We've refinished the floors, repaired water damage to the plaster ceiling, repainted the ceiling metallic gold, the walls a beautiful medium gray and after sanding down a century of paint, repainted the trim and wainscoting a bright white.

I am going to hang double curtain rods of black velvet drapes and white sheers behind them. My question is how long should the drapes be? If I let the velvet drapes puddle a little, should the sheers puddle too? Or should they just kiss the floor?
