Need help with Empty Corners - High Sofa Arms

Hi! I need some help rounding out my living room. The sofa arms are very high so I cannot use end tables. The items that I have in the corners now still leave quite a bit of empty, unused space (especially on the left side). Does anyone have suggestions? I was thinking some patterned window treatments and possibly a potted banana palm would be nice. Appreciate any feedback and suggestions!
