Did you buy 2 black plaques or how many? 2 would work well one above the other on the wall behind your end table between your 2 sofas. It would tie in with the coffee table which appears black on the photo. What do you think of that idea?

I can paint the tables black ?

Every space can use a touch of black, but don't go overboard in any one area. What about stair stepping them up the stairwell? I think your focus in the living room should be on a credenza to go under the large round mirror, and fabric window treatments to add some pattern.

I like the idea of stair stepping them on the wall but I wonder if there is space on the wall parallel to the stairs. The other thing that comes to mind is making a magazine rack out of two of them for the floor area next to the sofa or a three sided box for throws/blankets.

black lamp shades? saw a few on house, they look so polished but do dim the light if that's the only light on the room
