Glass tile would be appropriate in your kitchen because you have selected simple hardware, a sleek solid countertop, and a very modern faucet. I love the idea of a glass mosaic tile in a contrasting color of your choice.

I love the floor a lot. What plans do you have for wall color? I am sorta getting tired of seeing so much subway tile . I beg to be different myself, nice to see someone else is as well. Love the base of your cabinets appears to be stainless. I see nothing wrong with mixing it up . Go for it

I think a glass splashback would be fine as long as you keep it in a neutral shade ie white, taupe, beige, pale green. A bright statement splashback wouldn't work obviously.

NIce srm My new house has no tile as yet for back splash I wish you could give me some ideas as well . The one with the stainless steep hood I noticed the tile is mixed up I think for me I would want all the same does that mean I am boring.. LOL Its beautiful though .

If I am seeing your great new kitchen right ... do I see a stainless kick plate along the floor? Then how about stainless steel tiles mixed with white opaque glass tiles. Would tie the room together I think. Or you could go in a totally different direction if you want to embrace more of the "country" look that your flooring is tipping it's hat to ... and put up salvaged barn boards. You have a great kitchen! Nice working triangle! Efficient and tasteful.

Pattycake so far the choices you have made work very well together. I would steer clear of something too modern or too bold in colour now for the backsplash but if you do an interesting pattern with whites and perhaps the stainless steel as suggested. Check out this website and I like the DL 0366 Misura op 5 for your kitchen. Click on the configure and you can try some different ideas for the grout which could really make it interesting, just remember the grout lines then would become the focus if you go bold with them, could be fun though!

I love your layout. It is by far my favorite for a workable kitchen. Love your choices, too. The Tarzan Green has a hint of grey and will look good with the white and the floor. Love the white of the Caesarstone. Good work.

Hi pattycake4, Marie here. I'd pick up on your floor colour, your starting to "flat line" what I mean by that is your colours/tones are all the same, you need to mix it up with a burst of colour. If you want tone-on-tone, that's fine, make sure you add colour with your accessories. I would do a gorgeous herringbone mosaic in natural marble for your backsplash - keeping it neutral, classic, timeless. Add punches of colour with your mixer, coffee maker, and/or bowls or vases. lovely kitchen and good luck to you!

Marie I love Pattycakes floor as well . And agree to somehow tie it in would be wonderful. I think I will add a pic of part of my kitchen for discussion as well. Watch for me and maybe comment on mine as well. We have lived in our newly built house almost 6 weeks now but cant decide on backsplash as yet.

pattycake - were your floors site finished? What is the wood species? And the stain color? We have unfinished hickory right now - the home is being built currently - and we want to do what others think is unthinkable and stain the hickory a very subtle color to provide slight consistency. We chose hickory for its contrast of woods, but do not want the floors to be so light. Any advice?

Hi Diann,understand why you are having a bit of trouble with your splashback,your cabinetry(l feel)is the feature of your kitchen.l like the colour of your rangehood and walls.In my last house l had solid Blackwood kitchen,it was hard to fined a tile to complement the Blackwood.my new kitchen is quite insepid,l am happy with that as l want floor to be the star.Your kitchen looks amazing(40 at your round table)WOW

I faux finished my hood and handpainted the olive branches on it . My hubby loves olives ! And the color Ecru is tan but does have a olivey is that a word haha tinge to it at different times of the day and light.
In this months issue of Better Homes there is cabinets like yours and has the glass rectangle glass tiles it was really nice

here is my finished kitchen,l went with glass splashback colour is whiteduck,happy how it has turned out.l get sick of bold colours hence very sutle tones,very happy with floor.

Could you please advise the colour of the cabinets? I have hog bristle half strength walls and really looking to pick a neutral cabinet and splash back that will go with this and also tie in with wood/farmhouse type dining table. With the house we have we need to stick to traditional/modern themes I think and I am finding it all confusing!!

I think cabinets are antique white. They look great with hogs bristle.hope to see pics some day
