It might be nice to bring that lovely view of your backyard inside by pulling a light soft green from your backsplash for the walls. Bringing in wood tones for your walls around the fireplace will balance it (via a mantel or frames or hearth accents.) Some cream pillows and soft drapes with backsplash colors will tie it together.

Actually I like your kitchen. Super color would be Silver Spoon by Martin Seynour. BM can match it if you prefer BM. It is a soft gray green. I've used it in several houses. It goes with everything. Everyone who sees it remarks favorably.
I think I'd like to see more substantial bar stools even painted would be more balanced. Punches of color can be oriental rugs with reds, cream, navy and teal. Use the same colors for cushions on your outdoor chairs as you do indoors to bring it up a level. I just love your spaces.

Some live plants will add tremendously to the space.

I would pull a color from your tile back splash that would compliment all the warm wood tones like a sage green or blue grey. Be sure it works with the colors in your family room or add pillows or throws to tie the two rooms together.

Not the most exciting choice, greige, but I find that your backsplash ends abruptly against the paint in the second photo, so selected the predominant color in the tile to ease the transition. I see you have teal accents, so would enliven by continuing with those.

Thanks all. The color ideas are great. Could I use two contrasting Colors to give a more dramatic effect to the living space vs the kitchen area. How could I add wood tones to the fireplace . Any suggestions for our breakfast nook to liven it up?

No artworks? I would love to see some color through art, especially over the sofa.

You could add stikwood around the fireplace - that could look amazing. Play with textures if you're not sure about color, and consider hanging up some artwork above the couch and/or fireplace.

I would paint my cabinets a white keep the floors the same and countertop the same change out the backsplash to a more neutral Paint the walls kinda a gray trim your fire place opening with a shiny black tile around edges of opening or black marble. Maybe add to hearth to but keep it simple and clean. Then I would get a large picture of a brightest single flower that just pops out of the picture maybe red. To put on the wall and bring a bright color rug (red) by the couch. Then scents I kitchen with red and black pieces

Accents in kitchen area with the red and black and thrown in a little bright yellow. Change the bar stools to modern ones u see at Ikea

Use a few Benjamin Moore Affinity colors. They all coordinate with each other, so you can't go wrong, and they will add richness and depth to your rooms in ways a lot of other paints won't. Coordinating with the oak is the trickiest part--I agree with the suggestion of greens where you have a lot of wood in your kitchen.

Your large television looks very awkward in that corner. Maybe you could re-arrange your sofa and put the TV on the long wall with a long skinny table under it? Also, artwork over the fireplace. Ditch the tablecloth, too. Looks grannyish. As for color, I would take one of the colors in your backsplash that you like and go with that.

Be daring! I think the colour SW 6226 Languid Blue from Sherwin-Williams (posted by HayleyDaniels, above) would be stunning with the sofa & cabinet colours. Totally unpredictable!

Leave it white. Let you and your furnishings and artwork add color. Maybe the ceiling could be a pale warm grey...

For Living:
*Use some contrast tones & brighter tones for the wall..
*Match up with the sofa you have.. or If you don't have tight budget then substitute those sofa with colourful fabric sofa. There are so many options in choosing fabric.
*Use some colourful fabrics, match the colour of cushions & rugs too..
*Add up some colourful paintings on your wall which goes up with the fabrics too.
*Add mostly do add some indoor plants for to enhance more life to the room..
*Focus at the corners too by adding some elegant vases or indoor plants.. etc.
*If available do add Nepal made rugs as they look quite beautiful & will enhance your decor too.
For Kitchen:
*You can change the whole colour of the cabinet & choose to go little darker as the change in colour tone will give you totally a new look.

Since you have a nice neutral pallet right now, you have many choices available to you. Here's an idea: why not choose accents you can change out with the seasons (fall colors in fall, "beachy" colors like blue and coral in summer)? Have fun with it!

You have a lovely room, I am partial to shades of light yellow and bright whites, light cream colors also would do with white trims. Greens are also nice as long as its not dark, perhaps a light mint green with white trim. Use a color that makes you feel good and go light of that shade and you will do fine. Remember you don't have to use the same color on all the wall. Having a small wall a different color like the entrance wall to your room is always nice.

the floors, cabinets, and space are all beautiful!!! You can get live plants, an accent wall will make a world of difference. the blue pillows in your window seat are nice, bring more of that color in with pillows, area rug, or window treatments. also use some colored, more decorative glassware in your open cabinets

Too start with you have a beautiful area to work, I would paint the ceilings the privilege green and only the paint the center island Base if you want, or you could also do a section of cabinets, (but I like the color they are now) the Dill color then the white wall behind the couch or wall where the fire place is a reddish/rust color (like the reddish/rust color from the throw pillow in the one picture that was on the couch) If you paint the fireplace wall it will really show the fire place off. if your not comfortable with that then do the center island base a reddish/rust color and the wall the Dill? That will bring opportunity for more red/rust into the kitchen maybe the area by doorway between the cabinets?

Beautiful kitchen! I would choose a soft, slate blue to pull from the outside-in, the backsplash and also tie in the stainless steel oven hood. Also, would change bar stools to high back, dark leather and add a nice sign over the window. Good luck! Bella Cucina!

Love your floors. I would do cabinets in White. Walls a soft dove gray. Benjamin Moore has great colors put samples on your walls. Pick a accent color then use In roman shades for windows, and accessories around room. To tie together. New more industrial bar stools. Restoration has some, go on line Google metal rustic or industrial bar stools for ideas.

I would not stain floors. They are nice.

Change backsplash, to a subway in light gray. Match appliance. Remove clutter. Can't see counters what are they?

Put big art over sofa hang 7" above top. Reface fireplace with stacked stone in grays. Put TV on a low media, instead of angled on wall. Looks strange. Declutter, like your kitchen door. Hang nothing. Clear off counters. Your counters look dark. That's fine. Will look good with white cabs. Be sure to paint with paint made for cabinets or will chip.

If you can't budget refacing firepl. Paint that whole wall 2 shades darker of wall color. Add a very thick 4-6" reclaimed wood mantel go 6 ft. Then add a bold contemporary art over it. Add panels to window n ends only In a dark gray linen. Bed,bath n beyond sell. You could put TV over mantel would have to wire it.

Or take out window seat and place TV there on a long dark wood media. That table is not working. Is there a place in room for a table? Or do you have dining room? I would add black bamboo shades to each window. Roll dn half way. Lowes and Hone depot have. If not bamboo a roman type, lowes.

Ticoh99 sorry the Blue is not being DARING or totally UNPREDICTABLE (unless you've been under a rock forever! It's what everyone else is using on T.V. and everywhere these days... Yes you can put contrasting colors in their as I was saying above, pick colors you like I was giving you ideas on colors I like, and all the "pro's" stick with matchy matchy!!!! This is your home and it is beautiful. I have no doubt that if you pick out what YOU LIKE and do what YOU want it will in the end look gorgeous.!!

The first color that came to mind came in the form of envisioning lots of green plants to make your existing neutral palette "pop". Your existing neutral color scheme is easy to live with, and sometimes even greens can be used as a neutral. The varying shapes and profiles of plants would be a nice counterpoint to the predominantly straight lines contained in some of the permanent elements of your décor. Green would look good with each of the other colors in your existing color scheme. The possibilities for shapes and sizes of plants is endless, and each plant would be like a living sculpture. I can easily envision it!
