Help with our Living Room

We recently painted our living room and now nothing seems to flow together. Don't know if I need new blinds, curtains or if I should change the accent pillows. And I have a 3 year old,so any suggestions for toy storage would e appreciated.

What suggestions do you have as far as which colors to add or take away? I'm thinking about replacing the wood blinds with white faux wood blinds

Or should I add accent wall?

I really think that the rug isn't working for you

I think you should remove the dark pillows and put something that brighten the room. Go for white or beige with the plain fabric. And the wall next to the door that contains a small couch (I'm not sure what they call it) if it opens you can make it a toy storage and you can decorate it with more pillows facing the walls. So in case anybody wanted to sit on it, their back will be comfortable.

Here are a few thoughts for you. If the room flowed together with the old paint color, you can always revert for the price of a couple of gallons of paint. Since you mentioned new curtains, I think changing them to something that didn't match the sofas would help. A warm brown would probably look good. And something a little more modern looking. A larger area rug would be nice. The clock above the ottoman looks too high. The picture between the windows looks too high. The two paintings to the right of the TV could come down a little and then scoot together so that they form one visual element instead of two. I am sure with some tweaks you'll be happy.

I would remove pics from wall and replace with one large piece of art or mirror. Move TV to wall across from sofa (the one with love seat now). Place loveseat where other loveseat or oversized chair is now, but move away from wall, up to edge of the rug. Find a shelving unit, a chest, or a huge, pretty basset for toys and place on wall where ottoman is now. Do you have some place else you could use the oversized chair and ottoman? Add greenery- a large, tall plant where TV stand is now will fill out that space and add life. White wood blinds might look nice. If you are open to replacing curtains, I would find a pretty pattern- maybe something yellow to compliment all of the cranberry, and have panels made- hang just below the molding and in a way that adds width to each of the windows. Good luck!

I like your rug. I'ld change the dark brown pillows to lighter ones, with texture. Agree about lowering pictures and moving the two closer together. I don't care for the center curtains (shears?) snagged to the side...just hang straight or remove. You might try some large baskets in the corners for shoes and toys. The room really is nice and these are just tweaks I would make.
