Your house desperately needs the architectural details returned, that were probably stripped off in the seventies in their misguided quest to update it.
It looks like it has great bones and mostly needs just cosmetic touches.

Taking a cue from the houses on Alamo Square in San Francisco, here is a version to think about:

1. A detailed pediment would help to set off the gable and to establish a style. It also adds depth and breaks up the large flat space above the balcony. A slightly larger attic window would be nice.

2. Moulding, moulding, moulding.
-oversized dentil moulding/mini rafter tails on the bottom of the pediment and under the balcony add much-needed detail
-oversized mouldings around the doors and windows add classic detail and mimic the look of the bay window
-mega-moulding on the pediment lend heft and exude quality
- triple mini-brackets below the pediment and the balcony add more visual interest and give a little punch of color

3. Bay window has larger windows and a paneled treatment instead of siding like the rest of the house. The change-up of siding choices help to make it more interesting.

4. Balcony railing is historically correct and has the proper weight.

5. Front entry is more grand with a historic double door and transom. The sidestep mini balcony would allow more than one person to stand at the door when they reach the top of the stairs.

6. Vertical corner boards on the side of the house are more substantial and tie to the trim color.

7. A muted butter yellow field with ivory trim and salmon/rust accents help the structure feel more inviting and color balanced.

Voila! Curb appeal!
