Help with ending kitchen backsplash

Recently remodeled kitchen - we've finally picked out a stone moziac back splash. We will have a custom made glass back splash for the stovetop/vent hood area. The question is where/how to end the back splash at the end of the cabinets to the right of the range? There are no upper cabinets on this wall, and one lower cabinet to the right of the range. We've got a "hover" bar that is 44" high and extends past the far right edge of the lower cabinet by 7". All ideas welcome!

I think it depends on how tall you plan to make the backsplash. If it goes to the height of the raised bar, I would stop at the countertop. If it is higher than that, I'd carry the part above the raised bar to the end of it. Does that make any sense? Some crude illustrations may provide insight into my comments.

Hi Sharon, many of our customer do the whole wall around the hood and up ontop of the window as well. The backsplash should end where your counter ends.

Sharon in your first pic the raised bar seems to extend mostly over the countertop. Is that accurate? Shouldn't there have been more of an overhang for you to put stools under it?

Shakuff - the bar is exactly 1/2 over the counter top and 1/2 off. It was meant to "end" the kitchen (it's very small) and allow us to use it for buffet style munchies when we entertain. I love the look and function - but stumped by the tile. Thanks!

I guess it was just the angle. It looks almost like a 3"-5" overhang with about 12" over the counter/cabinets. That being said, I would consider stopping the backsplash inline with the base counter edge.

.....that way there are no odd pieces of backsplash sticking out onto the wall without being grounded to a base.

Hi---totally agree with flopsycat1... I would opt for extending it to the far edge of the bar and take it right up to the ceiling---this will make it less choppy and give a sense of balance/symmetry in relation to the window. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck!

Flopsycat1 - I love that idea to even the height of the tile with the bar - I think that solves my "where to end" delima! I had not even thought about that!

I think it would look best to the end of the raised bar as well.
