The question here is would you give us some photos of the neighborhood, your place and the type of fence you are considering.
We are good but cannot see what is not there. :)

Most cities and counties have codes that only permit a 4' fence so check with your building code department before you do so or they could make you cut it down to code.

A lot of places frown on gardens in the front yard so you might want to check into that as well. There was a famous incident in the Midwest a few years ago where a lady faced jail over having a garden in the front yard.

We put up a 4' fence a year or so after moving in for our dog, and love it. It keeps other dogs out, our dogs in and provides privacy.
