Is is possible to replace regular spindles with your glass inserts on an existing indoor spiral staircase?

I am also considering replacing wooden spindles of my interior stairs. According to my local stair guy, certain materials are not allowed per code in my area (VA State), but they are allowed in other states in US. Go figure!

I have decided to replace my current spindles with stainless steel spindles to give a contemporary look. It is definitely costing me in five figures.
