Congratulations on your new house. The bathroom looks well constructed and quite sturdy. Cultured marble can be cleaned with lots of different things. Start with juice of a fresh lemon on the rust stain. Then try these options if you want to pursue it. Try a rust remover such as CLR on a small test area. Bartenders Friend will also remove rust but it can scratch, so try a test area first.

You can replace the towel holder with a classic stainless for about $10; you'll probably need more than one anyway.

Fresh new wallpaper will distract from the blue. If you DIY, the cost will be pretty reasonable.

Although I don't usually recommend carpet in bathrooms, a cut to fit washable carpet will cover up your blue mosaic floor. They run $80 or so from JC Penney. Replace as needed.

I recommend Gel Gloss for making the surface shiny and easy to clean again. It looks like you may need a new faucet, too, if this one does not clean up. It's a good time to clean the cultured marble when the old faucet has been removed and the old hard water stains can be got at with vinegar soak and a toothbrush. Sometimes a light touch with very fine steel wool (0000 grade) can help. Test first.

The blue tle can be painted white by a specialty painter. Then lay carrera marble, 6" x 2 1/2", rectangles on top of the existing floor. Use carrera again for countertop and white sink.

Typically the cultured marble counter tops might not be as hard to remove as you think. The majority of the time the are silicone glued to the cabinet. A utility knife to scour the bead of glue can loosen it enough to remove. Any counter top fabricator or general contractor has experience with this and might be worth paying them to do so.

In terms of a new counter top, there are so many new laminates that look like marbles or granite on the market and would be inexpensive to replace. ** (See First photo- Wilsonart's Crystalline Ice color). You could also check with a local granite fabricator and check their remnants, you can sometimes find a reasonable deal. There is always the option of tiling the counters with a porcelain tile or granite tile.

Consider adding a glass mosaic back splash tile above the new counter top. It looks like you shower tile is a 4x4 size tile. You could carefully remove a few random tiles in a similar pattern to what is on the floor and replace with the same glass mosaic tiles, or remove a row of the 4x4 about 72' up and replace with the same glass mosaic tile form the back splash above vanity.

Hi---be patient, you just moved in. Save some cash, then tackle the bath...
Clean the sink as best you can and hang a fun, colorful shower curtain. This bathroom could be renovated quite inexpensively. White ceramic subway and hex tiles would freshen this bath up. For now, hang a shower curtain and enjoy your new home. Good Luck!

Can't you just replace the countertop and the sink? A quartz countertop with an undermount sink would be nice.

We have bath refitters here that can recline your tub / shower at supposedly a lower cost than replacing those items, which can often be a bathroom gut. How big is the vanity? Costco has some all in one vanities... And, at least here in Canada, they do in home flooring consultations. Worth investigating! Have fun and enjoy!

A beautiful curtain with a rod (doesn't need to be a shower curtain since you have a glass enclosure) will partly cover the blue tile in the shower and tub and bring much needed texture, color and pattern to the space. I suggest replacing the towel bar and the toilet holder with simple metal ones you can get from Lowes or Home Depot. For the floor you can purchase a long bath rug if you wish to add more intrest plus it's nice for the bare feet during the morning. :)

The most cost-conscious thing to do with the countertop is to paint it with Homax Tough as Tile brush on Epoxy which you can find at Ace Hardware. Then just replace the dated faucet with a new one and you have a complete new look for your bathroom. The walls and cabinetry could also be painted and cabinet hardware changed if you are looking for more things to do. :)

There are plenty of colors that will go with blue...If your look is more clean...then go with a deeper tan...for walls and bring in some chocolate for rugs and then some art on the walls in the blues, tans and chocolate. If you like traditional...then a cherry red would be really different and make it fun...so paint the walls in an ivory and use red accents for rugs and art!
You can also use yellow as an accent...

I just bought a house too and have ️the same blue tub!!! (Our tile has blue in it too but not as much) I would first check to see if the tile goes all the way under the vanity - if it does you can get a new one (possibly white) from Home Depot or lowes pretty cheap. Replace your towel bar and toilet paper holder...

That should give it a face lift... This was my before and "after" almost done

@Natalie, love that shower curtain. Great idea to bring in the lime green. I personally think you should keep the original bathroom. It is classic and age appropriate. I love the blue. Don't be in a rush. I agree with Natalie : )

congratulations on your new home! re the blue dilemma - i had a pink bathroom that i inherited once. since i also could not change it, i found that the best way to deal with it was "if you can't beat em, join em." i am unsure of the colors of the rest of your home, but a seashell motif would go well with this. cover the floor with a cream rug (to minimize the blue), change the towel rack (to delete that blue), and choose decorator towels that have blue as an accent, but not as a significant color in the pattern. this will make your blue sink and tile look intentional :)

What is your style? Can you take a pic of the vanity straight on? What kind of lighting do you have and what is the medicine cabinet? In any case, the blue is not too bad or too much. These are my suggestions for now:
1) Remove the towel bar on the far wall and hang art. Entering the bathroom and seeing wet towels will make it worse. Put the towels on the shower door handle and install hooks behind the door on the wall. Also, reinstall the toilet paper holder on the side of the vanity cabinet. Who wants to see that also? This will give you a nice clean wall to be creative!
2) Paint the vanity cabinet white high gloss and change the hardware.
3) Go on craigslist.com and look in the furniture section for vanity tops. You will be amazed on how inexpensive you can get a vanity top with a sink and faucet. This will be the most important change you will make.
4) I would paint a wide stripe blue and white on the walls with a crisp white on the ceiling. The blue could be alittle darker than the blue tile, but at least it will take your eye away from the tile. If you like to take a chance, find an outrageous wallpaper, instead of the stripes.
5) Home Depot has very inexpensive polished chrome towel hooks, rods, etc. Keep it simple in design.
6) Add a big white bathroom rug and color towels.
