I've seen a lot of travertine used in the condos. Just be sure and put a sound barrier under tile, especially if people living below to avoid annoyed downstairs neighbors!

No to wood in the bathroom! The humidity will wreck the floor. Tile floors in Florida are common, and very acceptable, cool in summer, and as we don't get that cold for that long in the winter, it doesn't matter if the tile is cool then. Sand will also damage a wood floor. As this is a rental, a beautiful stone or stone look large tile would look beautiful. Wood look tile may be a trend, and would date the condo quickly.

Sand is really a terror for us...especially in an already salty climate. Been figuring how to keep the sand out entirely and looking at this: Surf Splash thingy. Haha, thingy is the technical term I chose. Anyways, looks durable and perfect to keep renters/my kids from tracking sand everywhereeeee
