Help!! I need ideas for more seating and artwork.

We need more seating in this family room space. I have tried a sectional but it just didn't work. I'd like to have two chairs flanking the tv, but do I need to get two matching chairs? Can I add a fabric chair to go with the leather? the couch is a microsuede hunter green. I have included several photos of the space. We are in need of some artwork above the kitchen table but I have no clue what should go in that big space. Any advice/suggestions/comments for this space are appreciated!!

Yes, you can add another chair and it should be different. No matchy matchy. It will add more interest. Upholstered would be great. Just make sure it has the same colors as in the rug.

For December, for that blank wall, do an unexpected Christmas tree out of photos, frames, etc.

I feel like this space is calling out for something over the kitchen table on the big wall but I don;t know what. I keep thinking of something round and rustic? I don't want to do a framed photo, unless it had some meaning. I already have lots of pics of my kids around. Does it need color? What do you think for another chair? The room doesn't have a fireplace, although the podium like furniture the tv is on looks a lot like one. Does that change your thought about that area?

Tv looks like it is about to go over! Try in on the furniture piece that is to the right of it.

Table that backs the sofa might work better for tv.

ok thanks. What about the height of the chair? Should it mimic the other one?

Still have some questions on how the space works. I am thinking it might work better to put the round table where the area rug now is. Place the tv into some sort of built in or furniture piece on to that large blank wall (by table now) and group the furniture around that area.

More photos taken from the blank wall out would help.

Tv is up high because that is where the plug is. Should we have it mounted? Not sure what to do with cable box if we mount the tv?

Electrician can move the cables for you. Or you can buy an extension.
Can you show a shot of the ceiling? Looks interesting!

If the tv could work where that blank wall is, you could incorporate a fireplace also.

I added a few more pics. The table is nearer to the kitchen and across from the wet bar (black cabinets). Tv area is beyond those spaces, and farther from the kitchen.

I would move the tv to the left corner, so that it's not the focal point on the wall and instead add some nice artwork between the two windows. Move leather chair to opposite side and add a new chair in the middle and your table in between both - set up would look something like picture #1. If it fits, you could add an ottoman for extra seating. I would look for a chair that has a similar shape to your chair and look at a fabric that incorporates the color of yoru couch, so it works with something else in the room. If you can't find a chair, you could slip cover one that has a good shape, in a beige cotton and add a throw and a pillow onto it. A grouping of prints or a large antique clock may be nice on your dining room wall.

We have tried to put two chairs in front of the french doors but there just isn't enough room. I think we are stuck with the tv in the middle. does is look weird there? There nice thing is you can see it from the dining table and from the kitchen if you are cooking. Should I have it mounted, perhaps with a swivel arm? What about small tables next to the chairs with lamp or a floor lamp? The space seems stark? Can anyone suggest placement for artwork there or some other way to add texture/warmth? Thank you for any advice!!

I like the idea of a large clock on the blank wall. I like that it is round too. Does it look to "cliche" though?

Thanks for posting more photos. I really think now that switching the dining over to where the sofa is and vice versa would work well. It is only a few more feet to carry food over. Then you can set there and really enjoy the view out those French doors!

That large wall near kitchen looks made for the tv. I know this means moving the chandy maybe.

Oh, and go to Home Depot. For $5 you can buy a hinge attachment that will automatically close the bathroom door. I had the same problem!

For the second chair I'd do a nice large wing back with an ottoman if there's room. I'd do a colorful stripe or large ikat pattern to work with your shades and rug. What screams at me is the TV stand, it needs a great two or three door cabinet maybe in a barn red paint. And wall mount the TV too and get an RF repeater so you don't see the components. Top the cabinet with a long basket or old carved wooden bowl so you'll distract from the TV . I think a tree on the right would help balance the room and add height. Truly beautiful house and room.

ooh I really like this. I have the same pendant lights from pb. I also thought about a wagon wheel. Too rustic?
Art is very personal so if a wagon wheel on the wall makes you happy I say go for it:) I think it might work in your room-it's a great space-kind of rustic/transitional and you can get away with different styles:)
