I would love your thoughts on what I can do to improve the look on my fireplace. Honestly, I would love to remove it, but then I would have to add wood to the floors--so yea, that's not an option. The fireplace juts out about 2 feet from the wall and is floor to ceiling. I will be painting the room a very pale grey soon. Also, I will be mounting the tv above the fireplace because I need the extra floor space. I will remove the grey tile, but I'm not sure with what to replace it. I'm also not sure if I should tile all the way to the ceiling. I was also thinking of removing the dry wall above the tiled area and installing and mantel; however, another problem is there is a concrete beam which runs along the ceiling (behind the concrete drywall), so I thought it may look funny.
