Looks a little somber. Perhaps something lighter and brighter on the table and sideboard. Are those dried flowers in the wall sconces? Could they be changed out for something a little livelier? With Thanksgiving preparations next week, you probably don't won't to do anything major- and I don't believe you have to. Very nice wall and trim colors!

Your dining room is beautiful. If you're looking to get it to a more glittering level, I would suggest you move your art work and put a large horizontal mirror there that reflects the chandelier, the buffet lamps, and the people who will be sitting around your table on Thanksgiving Day. That's what many restaurants do--mirror the lights and people sitting at the tables. A mirror animates the room. It's pretty late to go mirror shopping, though. I've gotten gorgeous ones from thrift shops in the past. Pottery Barn has fabulous mirrors as does Ballarddesigns.com, but I don't know if there's enough time.

I agree with the word "somber"... I like the idea of changing out the flowers. And I have a mirror on the side wall, but maybe I should switch them. Thank you!

It needs some color! Perhaps just putting a bright "harvest" centerpiece on the table would make a world of difference. And a fall themed table runner for the buffet (see pic below).

Also, can you post a shot of the buffet area. It appears from the picture above that your buffet is too small and not in scale with the table and picture you have hung over it - but it's hard to tell from the angle in this pic. Love the ceiling btw - looks like your house is an old charmer!

I've posted a few ideas for simple centerpieces that can be DIY or bring pic to a florist and have it made.

What a lovely room! The flowers/wall sconce date it tho. All you need is a lovely area rug to pull it all together.
