We just moved into our new co-op apartment. Our bathroom is a pretty standard, tiny NYC bathroom about 5x7'. We were already planning to redo it, and we've lined up contractors, but today I discovered a new issue that people with pets will understand: the toilet is closest to the door, and when a cat wants to come in, the door is mostly blocked by my legs. This is going to be a problem. :)

IMO, the most attractive solution would be pocket doors, and the bathroom adjoins a very wide closet, so I think we'd have the room, but a couple of factors are putting me off. For one thing, I'm afraid that framing out a pocket door will add greatly to the time and expense of the bathroom reno. Secondly, I don't know what's inside the walls, and I'm afraid we'll rip them up only to find out it's not feasible.

So now I'm looking for easy alternatives. As you can see from the picture, I don't have room for something pretty like a barn door. I guess the obvious thing is a bifold door or, heaven forbid, an accordion door. I don't want my gorgeous new bathroom ruined by a cheap-looking door. Help!
