Leave or get rid of?

Wondering if it was a good idea to add these shelvings/coat hangers behind my front door or get rid of and add something else?

Get rid of those. If you need a place to hang coats, etc, find something which will add style to your front hall.

Are you familiar with antique hall trees?

They are interesting. Typically from the turn of the century, they are both interesting and utilitarian.

For instance, this one from ebay is contemporary enough to work today. Love it has a mirror.

Remove all the stuff from the wall. It looks cluttered. Your entry has enough going on so leave the wall empty. I assume you have a guest closet elsewhere?
Yeah the hats and bags can be stored on the inside of the door to the closet. Having there like they are feels like you are highlighting them as if they were artwork. Find a space for the clutter. You can still have shelves there with items on top. Just get shelves without hooks.

Remove the hangers and replace them with either a large horizontal piece of art or three pictures hung next to each other horizontally. The art should go with the style and colors in your living room.
It's quite a large wall to leave bare and adding some art will stop the eye from honing in on the two vents.

Replace with some nice art work. Find another place for the keys, etc

You might want to try a console table with artwork above. Or an entryway system (see image)

Hi guys! Decided to go with a giant white mirror for now, what do you think? I might add a table but not sure if that's too much? Would u turn the mirror oval or leave it as is?? Thanks!
Mirror looks good. Is it the correct height for a standing person to gaze into?
Thank you, yes the center is about 5'8 ish.

Since your entry is not an enclosed foyer get rid of the racks,

I like the mirror. I might turn in so that oval shape of the mirror ties into the oval shape of the door.

Gorgeous mirror - what a difference! I agree with Tiffany - to mount it vertically - centered with the upper vent. Your face should be in the center of the mirror. - it will fill the height of the wall better and create a grander look.

Adding a console table with a bench under the mirror would conceal the air vents;) rest arrow on pic to enlarge

Hi---center of mirror should be 57"-60"-----68" is too high. If you put a console below it, you can adjust it accordingly, but it is too high. :) I really like JudyG's suggestion and am more in favor of it, as it will serve a much needed purpose. Hope this is helpful. Good Luck!

Ok I switched it to vertical... Not sure what kind of table would fit under thought...

I think you should add a console table under the mirror that is 36-42" long. Add a pair of buffet lamps on either side of the mirror, a tray on the table to place keys etc. I would also put an area rug down, with a pattern to add some interst.

You know, I liked them...they added personality. Did they go with the rest of the home? If not, then, yes, the typical console table, bench, etc would work.

I guess the question here is, did you feel like it was messy and cluttered? Were you leaving coats on top of coats, etc? If not, I would go back if you start to miss it and not worry about what anyone else says. :)

To be honest, that mirror doesn't seem to go with the integrity of the home or the rest of the space (the little that I see of it, at least)...when decorating, always stay true to YOU. Your home should reflect your personality...and stay consistent and fluid with the rest of the home. Good luck!
