we don't have official BTU ratings, but I would suspect between a hundred fifty thousand or more

Can this be use for both propane and natural gas if I chose to later convert it to natural gas use?

yes. all parts of this kit are nat gas compatible with the exception of the regulator. with natural gas you'd want to purchase our deluxe kits with key valve controllability as they are also nat gas compatible with the exception of the regulator but the key valve becomes the regulating device for nat gas.
