Oversized rug/carpet

Okay, can someone please help me? My husband and I bought an oversized rug to act as a carpet for our bedroom, we knew it was going to be too big but not quite this much too big, now we're not sure what to do? We thought about cutting it but we're afraid that would cause it to fray at the cut edge? But we thought about burning the edges the try and seal it off, does anyone know if this will work or has tried it?? Below are pictures to show just how much too big it is!

Hire a carpet layer to lay it properly so it's usable.

If you don't want to have it permanently installed, and don't want to spend the money to have it professionally cut and bound, I have had some good success with cutting rugs to size and sealing the cut edges with a liberal application of glue (like Elmer's common household glue) applied on the underside of the rug at the edge and in about 1/2 inch. Be sure the glue is thoroughly dry before turning right side up on your floors. You may still have some issues with yarns catching in the beater bar of a vacuum cleaner with this method as the glue wears over time.
