As a single column wine cellar rack, the rack itself is not free standing (the base is very narrow, so fully stocked the rack would not be as stable as you would like). If you were to put it in between a refrigerator and a wall as an example, a single column would work perfect. For your specific situation however, please refer to the assembly guide below, specifically page two that displays simple instructions for attaching your rack to the wall. With simple "L" brackets, this wine cellar rack could indeed fit in the corner of your dining room.
