Can not decide on using a shower curtain or a glass door on our new construction.

Generally speaking, I prefer a frameless glass door.

You might want to read the responses from an older post asking your same question, there are definitely two schools of thought.

Very good thoughts. The bath is only a guest bath and will seldom be used. I like glass but my concern is for the use of the tub when great nieces/nephews or my older parents are visiting.

You could always keep it simple now...do the shower curtain, and if later down the road you decide you hate it, the glass can always be added in. It's generally one of the last things to install in the bathroom unless some sort of special application is needed. However, most don't require that.

On a side note, doing a shower curtain doesn't have to be "cheap." I've known people to make gorgeous custom shower curtains using Ralph Lauren metal hardware and Loro Piana fabric! :)

This is a "Two Girls in Avignon" French Linen Shower Curtain I had in mind. Actually ordered a different one from them but this is the one I received. I sure this is not as elegant has what you had in mind but fun and French looking. Want to add a few light gold touches to the design. Would the Ralph Lauren metal hardware work with this?

I think it's cute! It all depends on your style, but you could definitely jazz up the bathroom with this and some cute accessories. The Raplh Lauren hardware was very large and heavy, plus the rings had to be sewn on so it wouldn't work, but you can definitely do something else. Wish I could tag people to comment on here, so many people on houzz with great decorating tips! :) I suggest posting a pic of your floorplan or shower/tub if it's built, or even just this shower curtain and any cabinet, tile, or paint colors and ask for tips on how to spruce up the bathroom, and pull it together with the shower curtain..people can suggest accessories, paint colors and more.

Thank you so much! I actually have most everything else taken care of. Including: A large framed mirror, over the vanity that is Starry Night granite. A delicate wall sconce with prisms on each side of the mirror and a matching chandelier hanging between the vanity/mirror area and the tub area. In a small sectioned off area I am using the attached console with a canvas (also attached) hanging off center above the console. This is directly across from the toilet. Strange sense of humor, yes. Difficult to give you a good visual but this guest bath also serves as a pool bath so there is another sectioned off area with a built in bench and above cabinet. Across from that I am needing some type of multiple hooks for hanging of towels and wet swim suits. Any ideas on that?

We did glass frameless for the master and curtains for the rest. I had lots of people telling me to not use glass for the kids bathroom. The post above was good about the greenish color, which especially looks green against our white subway tile. The more expensive glass doesn't look as green but the trade off is that it looks dirtier. Both require squeezing and constant maintenance.

Glass doors, in my opinion looks better. I prefer the neat, transparent, minimalist look of it. Glass do not mold nor does it form mildew and you don't have to change it every so often.

I like glass doors for a shower but not for a shower/tub combo. In that situation a shower curtain is more versatile.
