Have you confirmed that you can't build a porch? Many municipalities do allow front porches to encroach front yard set backs to a certain degree. Might be worth double checking that. If it were me, I'd add a shallow veranda along the full length of the house picking of the line of the roof deck and railing above the garage. If you can get enough depth to it, that might present the opportunity of a second floor deck and turning a couple of those windows into patio doors. Something like this, but with the railings over your garage continuing along to make it a usable area up there.
