Dilemmas without end.

Not exactly a design question, but is there a competition for longest running thread? Some of them seem to go on forever.

@Haley, okay, I usually only like comments that I actually like, even on my dilemma. If I don't like it..... then I don't "like" it. Lol ;) But I usually would thank the person if I did not "like" it, just to show appreciation for their comment. So, I don't like and thank everyone. But I'm definitely going to check my thread and see because I cannot say for certain. :)
@Haley, I looked at my dilemma, at least the part that loads. I do like comments as I've stated previously, but the thank you part is scattered. I guess if I would thank someone in person, then I thank them here. I also sometimes just say thanks in a comment back to them. :)

My original tongue-in-cheek post referenced a competition for the absurdly longest thread. You can be sure I won't ask about the "I am the Top Commenter" competition.

Please don't flopsy, my sanity couldn't take it! Lol ;D I'm not trying to compete there either.

zaz, I looked at your thread, and you do thank a lot of posters which is why I've come to this conclusion. It was the same for Chook-Chook [think that's her name] who had a massive thread in the 'other' forum, and was always top commenter until she left earlier this fall. I've been analyzing this as I'm an accountant, and extremely analytical by nature. I noticed I became a top commenter after being the first to post a comment about design rules where I made a very general statement that most people know what they like even though they can't define it. I also 'like' comments as a way of agreeing with people, or seconding what they said without posting.

I think some of the people have private conversations in their ideabooks that also count towards being a top commenter.

Most of it is figuring out how to play the game......
Haley, lol :) I prefer to stay out of the game. Is the private idea book the same as shared? I had rred share hers because of her project, and smeets are cool. But there are not a lot of comments there? And someone shared one with me, but there are no comments? Oh well, now you have me wondering too? Geez. I'm still not done buying food for the holidays.....I have to get moving....cookies to make. :) Too much thinking and I'll have a brain pain. Lol ;D

zaz, I got the impression several months ago that there's a group of people who get together and chat in one or their private ideabooks. I know one lady who sticks to the more general discussions posted about how you need to keep your profile locked so no one can see anything so your comments can't be viewed. A lot of forums a feature where a person can set up their discussion groups and control who's allowed to participate. I assume that's what the private ideabooks are all about. From what this one lady was posting when this came up, I got the impression it was a gossipy type thing of slamming other peoples' opinions which is why she told everyone to lock their profile. I'm not a part of it, and don't care to be...

*raising hand*... HI, my name is Margo, and I am a former chat group member, lol.
I have been private chat free for over 60 days....;))
I'm not going to read this whole thing because it is sooooo long, but if you want a delimma without end, just keep going. It is that simple......not rocket science, just get Zaz on here ;D

And, some of us have done some experimenting and actually keeping track of the number of comments and likes. The number of "likes" you get definitely plays into the equation, among other things. They may adjust how much "weight" is attached to each from time to time.
Hi Haley, oh? Well, I really don't really have a need to talk bad about anyone's comments. I'm definitely no design authority. Although I do think people should be nice. I'm also a say it out loud kind of person. I do not like gossip. The idea book I'm in, just shows pictures of houzzers who meet.... well their feet. Lol :) I don't really know anyone personally on houzz, so I would find it hard to make judgments about them. Unless of course they are just mean towards me. I kind of learn as I go on here. I turned off my notifications a long time ago from my email. My profile is open as far as I know? I haven't changed settings, so I don't know? Trust me, I don't like to be talked about so I'm definitely not bashing anyone in private. :)

We need a new SOFA BED! We bought one during a remodel, but it is extremely uncomfortable to use as a sofa!! Any suggestions on brands?
Sorry, asked my question in the wrong spot!
If you keep commenting, a sofa bed might be the prize?

A 60" black hole for over the fireplace?! ;)
The winner of the 1000th comment gets a private ideabook placed in his profile for private chats;)
If I had a black hole over the fireplace, I would probably put a video of this on it rotating around all day when I wasn't watching the boobtube.
    Margo - boobyprize?
    Margo, I'll forfeit that prize.....thanks! LOL ;)

Well what is great is when family comes to visit and it actually uplifts you....
as to long threads - sometimes the way it is that we can't see and hear each other might require more written communication....
I like reading all of the dilemmas ,sometimes I can help out ....very creative mind,I am the artistic type.Sometimes I read them to see what's going on in the dilemma, I have been accused of wearing ( a cheeky red hat ) which was actually my pink hair in pig tails from my first profile picture when I signed into Houzz, lol and I have also been told that I have sparred with someone on three occasions and to this day I can't tell you this persons name or who they are.I do not like to argue in person much less on a design site. This is a passion and hobby of mine that is all.i love to read the threads where you guys talk about what is going on in your lives and have fun with each other. I still am wondering why I was attacked in a dilemma and challenged about something I had no idea about... With the person swearing she remembered me by my ( cheeky red hat ) .... Made me wonder about said persons reason for the confrontation when they obviously have bad eyesight as I was not even wearing a hat, lol. oh well I will continue to read dilemmas and follow Zaz on her Kitchen ,can't wait to see what the outcome is. hope everyone has a great Christmas, and I will be here in the New Year to see how long this thread goes as well.

@Brandi, Hi... thanks. That was nice. I hope I finally have an outcome. Lol :) I hope you have a great Christmas and new year too! :) And Brandi, please feel free to voice your opinion anytime on my dilemma. :) Or just chat. ;)
Brandi, I think that's happened to quite a few people. You open up the comment and go "whoa! what?" Don't be afraid to chime in even on longer threads where it seems like everyone knows one another. They're often the most welcoming to a new voice.
