We are renovating our house in Vancouver BC. The design is contemporary with large glass windows and doors. The exterior tones are grays. We want to introduce 2 architectural elements at the front made of wood boxes (kind of a frame around a large glass wall which creates also a small deck) We love the look of the red-yellow stain Douglass Fir, but are concerned about maintenance.

We always like the look of REAL wood, but not sure we can maintain this "new" look for many more years.
