What is the groundcover between the stepping stones?

Love the contrasting, vibrant colors. Can the groundcover between the stepping stones be irrigated with a drip system?

Why the pebbles? The baby's tears didn't like the sun?

We ended up replacing the ground cover with pebbles. The ground cover in this photo is Soleirolia, 'baby's tears'. You can irrigate it with a drip system.

We did this years ago in a So Cal townhouse - ran a drip line between flagstone pavers and planted baby tear and pink thyme for a "swept in" look. However, the baby tear dominated under a patio cover and the pink thyme in the sunny areas. It was still very pretty and brought greenery to what would have been all concrete but the "swept in" idea recommended by a local nursery didn't work.

Today I would use Kurapia. It's a CA Native and is an aggressive grower that has done well in both sun and shade.

What type of irrigation do you use for the kurapia? Just drip or drip with the mini pop-up sprinklers?

We have used both drip and spray. Usually spray for larger areas. MP rotators
