That corner wall unit is moving as well.

Certainly ok to have a wall of bookcase if you have stuff you want to store/display there. It's likely to dominate the room, though, so be sure you want that as a focus for the space.

also, it's ok (heresy!) to have furniture in front of bookcases if you want to deemphasize them.

I agree with MARGO. Unless you have a lot of books to shelve, art is a better option.

You'll limit future arrangement options and lose some floor space with that big unit. A better investment would be to get a credenza 24" wider than your TV and work on that side of the room first. It is in need of window treatments too, and you could use a coffee table, end table and lamps. I think the money would be better spent fleshing out the seating and TV area where you guys "live" than thrown at a blank wall. A quick, inexpensive solution to give that wall some personality would be to paint it an accent color and hang a large piece of art on it.

I agree with the other comments. Art would be a nice opition, it would be a perfect place to display some family photos or a cool abstract piece. I would suggest a gallery style framing for photos, which is classic and will be in style for years to come. Also to fill in the corner if you are into plants, this would be the perfect space for one. Plants add a lively element to a room, and also benefit our health! Good luck on your project.

Another thought.... Have you considered putting the TV on that big wall?

That wall butts up to a bedroom so I prefer not to.
