SO WHY COVER A WINDOW? I DON'T LIKE THE BIG SQUARE OF LITTLE TILES MYSELF.

No, there was not a window in that bathroom. The mosaic tile picture framed was purely for aesthetics, as we wanted to do something a little more classic in style & unique.

I really like this a great deal. It is amazing how you can take a boring little hall bathroom and turn it into something so nice, the key to this though is the fact that a shower door could be found like the one I see here--and how it was partitioned away from the toilet. You wonder where it was found.....or made.

Thank you for posting this! I am sending a link to my mom and sister. Our beach house has a tiny shower that we plan to expand by stealing room from a closet that faces the bedroom. The end result will be a bathroom floor plan exactly like this one. We had been struggling with what to do about the toilet, your half wall keeps the shower light and bright! I had thought we would have to keep the original door opening and have the remainder of the shower behind the wall.

This is gorgeous! what a transformation just goes to show what you can do, did you get professional advice or did you design this yourself? just beautiful thank you for sharing just goes to show what you can do to a drab room. Wish it was mine!

Love the bathroom and I think it feels classic, so should feel up to date for a long time with easy tweeks in years to come.

getting rid of the curtain and the cabinet over the toilet alone makes for a dramatic change. Get job, nice overhead light, I had looked at it as well. Do you have a bathroom fan in place elsewhere?

Really impressive! I am in the early process of doing the same...... updating my condo bathroom which looks like yours. Also changing the bathtub to a shower but my shower head pipes are on the right side, same side as the toilet wall. Did you change anything so that your shower head is on the left?? I saw your extra photos, I love the bench and hidden shelf for shampoos, etc. It all looks fantastic!!!

@jaykarkel - I had the privilege to work with the homeowner on this project. She hired me for the design, selections and project management with the contractor. It was great to help her create the bathroom she always wanted!

@truegrid - We actually have a can light & fan combo in the shower. It looks & functions like a recessed can, but also has a fan function as well. It was perfect for the space, without taking up too much of the ceiling with a traditional bathroom fan!

@suzzer - The shower is approx 60" wide, and 30" deep.

@frivelis - The homeowners shower head was initially on the right, so we had the contractor switch it to the other side while adding body sprays. We kept the hand shower on the side where the initial shower head was.

What a beautiful transformation! I love the accent tile in the shower - it creates a focal point in the space when you walk in.

What was the cost for the renovation?
Excellent use of a small space. I did something similar, but I will never have clear glass again, it was far too difficult to keep clean.

Did you do it yourself? Who did you hire to do work if not?

It may not be my taste but it is still an amazing transformation, good job!

@swedishbit - I cannot tell you the exact cost to respect my clients privacy, but I can tell you an average cost for a bathroom this size and with similar materials does range anywhere from $20,000 - $25,000. What drives the price is specialty custom tile & installation, custom wainscot, and the glass shower door in this scenario.

@happycl8 - I was lucky to work with the homeowner as the designer on this project. She hired me for the design & execution. I also worked with Brandon Carman of Carman Construction here in Cincinnati on this project as well. The homeowner worked full time, so I helped her with the design drawings, product selections, and worked with the contractor Brandon to make sure the clients dream bathroom could come to life! He did a beautiful job installing everything, is great to work with and the client is thrilled with how it turned out.

The two window-shaped areas of small tiles aren't working. I understand you wanted to "do something different," but this just looks like you were trying to cover up windows and it makes the shower look smaller than it is. Also, is that a double lip on the shower entry? It looks like something people would trip over.

No, that is not a double lip on the shower entry. You may be seeing the variation in color on the marble threshold through the tempered glass.

I actually think the window-shaped areas are an interesting and unusual use of accent tiles. It looks like washable artwork, rather than the typical stripe that everyone seems to be putting in. Very creative.

I've mentioned back in December I like your bathroom. My remodeled bathroom is just about finished. I was hoping that I would be able to get that half-wall like you have with the hidden niche. Unfortunately the interior designer and contractor said my bathroom is too small. Plus I'll have to have a sliding shower door instead of a swing out type of door. But I've shown your pics to quite a few people and we're all impressed with the transformation. I might post my pics, but am afraid of negative comments like some others have given to yours. Who wants to hear that after spending thousands of dollars??? Enjoy your bathroom, I think you did a great job!!!
