You need to give it some dimension and style. Let the speakers and components fade into the background. Inspiration:

I think it stems from the cold grey floor and all hard lines. Add a rug, something with large-scale pattern and warm color. I'd not do a hard-edged geometric pattern, since your furnishings are all hard edges. Get a pattern with some curves or at least blurred and irregular blocks of color, including at least some charcoal or black. I'd paint the far wall in the kitchen, behind the counter, with a bold and warm color, but pick one that brings light into the room (not grey or dark blue). I'd put a vertical row of pictures on the wall at right angles to the TV wall, by the end of the breakfast bar, that has frames that relate to the color of the kitchen wall. You just need some warmth, and something for you eye to enjoy on the walls.

TV should be lower or console higher; speakers need to go somewhere else.

Area rug will add color and texture. Paint the louvered door the same color as the walls.

Pick some art you love, then don't be afraid to use those colors to inform your rug and accessories.

Hey, Daniel, this is supposed to be fun! You've got good taste...that black console under the TV has good lines and will go with anything. So trust your instincts. I recommend you do what I've been doing, and got to the Houzz photos, pick livingroom, and start just buzzing thru the literally half million photos. save what you see you like, and then look at them and see the common pattern. That will tell you what you want your room to "feel" like. Do you want a room that wakes you up, or a room that calms you down, a room with lots of stuff, or a room with one fabulous thing and little else? Also, it's too intimidating to try to design a room in your head, so like Groveraxle said, find one thing you really like and then go from there. And enjoy the process, you've likely got all the time in the world to find what you want to live with.

Did you pick the orange pillow on your couch and the pumpkin colored placemats on the counter? That's a great accent color to warm up the grey and black. If you really do like that color, you could paint that kitchen wall that faces the living room with a color in that range. Buy a quart and paint as much of that one wall as a quart wilI cover, and if you don't like it then pick another color (but unless you hate it right away, live with it for a week to see if you were just shocked by the change). I think Grover's on to something with the idea of a large picture on that wall. Go to one of those poster stores and see if there's any you like. Follow some of the links that Everdebz included and get an idea of what kinds of rugs are out there (and what they cost). I like the West Elm website. They have rugs that I think would suit your room, and have good sales. Or head to Home Depot and look thru the rugs they have, I've seen some there that have tempted me in the past. You seem to have caught the attention of several of us who like to kibbitz in on projects, so post some options you like and we can comment. Remember, it's FUN.

Check out Garage Studio Conversion in the "Before and After". It was originated in Nov 2013. They have a painted grey floor, and you can see how a warmer color of grey on the wall and a rusty red-brown rug (and the wood ceiling) warm up the space.
