Are the 2 photos related. The second photo of the room is very nicely done. As for the wall on both sides of the fireplace, just paint them a sage green to go with your wonderful rug.

Yeah it was a before and after pic of the remodel. Yeah I am looking at painting the walls still but as far as what to put in the spaces I need some ideas.

well, the two sides are not an equal space so we want to try to balance it without playing that up. i would say a potted plant on the right, and two stack pictures over the chair on the left. perhaps one picture behind the plant. is there an end table there, for a lamp?

Yes there is an end table there the lamp is on. Good idea on a two stack pic above the chair. Or should I put that chair on the right with a pic above it. How bout a cool ladder on the left?

i like the chair on the left might look stuffy on the low side of the wall. i think a ladder will unbalance it.

If you're referring to a ladder shelf, they look too collegiate for an upscale home. You can stack large pix, maybe even three of them, starting about 5" above the baseboard and going up. Leave one frame's width between them. Nothing else required on the right. Your chair is too "tucked-in" between the sofa and FP. I'd bring it down to the other end of the seating and put a live ficus or other tree on the right.

Matching bookcases or wall units.

it draws the eye to the fireplace.....its the main focal point...

It always looks good with some plants. That's what we use to fill up our corners. Tall ones.

Leave it empty. It will give the room a spacious feel not to have every corner filled up.

Thx everyone. I may just put the plant in the picture below after Christmas. This was my old furniture setup before I was able to get new furniture. I think my current setup feels a lot more homey.

i think that plant may be too clumpy, too tall and too large for the pot. Something more airy is what I had in mind. How tall might depend on what you do with the other side. The taller treatment should go on the side with the higher ceiling.

You have done a really nice job with the fireplace and decor. I think you should let the corner breathe and let the fireplace be set off by an accent color on that wall. If you really want shelves you could add floating white ones to each side, but the space does not need them, that is only if you still need/want them.

Thanks for the suggestions. Going to see how I feel about leaving it bare once I take the Christmas tree away. Should I take the chairs out of the left corner as well?

Also what about a coffee table between the 2 sofas? Trying to figure out what style I want.

Oh btw. I see there's a lot of fuss about a tv above fireplaces. I did have an 80 above there but even I thought it was overboard. Now I have a 65 inch curve tv which looks amazing. I know aesthetically a tv isn't the best but it's my only entertaining room and didn't know where else to put it.

As TVs over fireplaces go, yours isn't bad. Yes, pull the chair out of the corner. It looks like the time out chair ;-) Leave the corners bare. For a coffee table, perhaps glass and black iron to echo the fan.

So here are some updates pictures without the tree. And I finally got my screen door put in and very happy with it. Suggestions? Still trying to add items in the dining room. Not sure that shot glass is placed right or should be put in a different room. Also changing the clock to a different one to the left of the tv.

Your room is lovely, Adding more to the walls in the living room would be very tricky as it will look cluttered quickly. Window treatments is a possibility.

hmm, something is saying less is more i think the poke a dot pillows are clashing with the brick a bit... almost to busy. the large circle shelf is over powering the sofa, and slightly off fashion with the room. wondering if we have room to put one couch facing the tv and the two club chairs on the half wall to the dining room...can that work? the dining room looks great. a little something on the wall right of the doors. and i would get a rug ...done (lol) looking more close i think you should try the sofa where the club chairs are. also swap the ORB lamp with the white one, its blending. also I really think you should add curtains to the windows, it seems very square right now, needs a little softening. get a plant stand to raise him up in the corner too. i might actually skip the end table left in favor of a large floor lamp. it seems this "big" room needs balance.

Thx for suggestions. The reason for the club chairs being where the are at is because behind the club chairs is the main entrance to that room. I didn't want to walk in that room and have a sofa stuck in front of me. Yeah the black thing might be too big for the room as well. Still trying to get things perfect. ;)
