Beautiful house. Love the wainscoting!

Trying to find an economical way to do wainscoting. Did you apply the trim to a panel or directly to the wall/sheetrock? Thanks!

Thanks for the helpful comments! So, you applied wood trim over an MDF panel? Were both materials pre-primed? Was the paint sprayed on? If so, before or after the wainscoting was installed? Thanks for help on this DIY project :)

No problem, happy to help. Yes, pre-primed MDF panels under pre-primed wood or MDF trim. The paint was sprayed to get the coat as even as possible. Brush strokes in the paint are okay if you're trying to duplicate the look of an original home. Otherwise, most people prefer the smooth finish of spray-applied paint.

    Good luck with your project!

Just love this. How tall is the wainscoting in this dining room?

Oof. It's been years so I won't remember exactly. Judging from the photo it appears to be around 48" high. One good idea is to draw your ideas on a small section of the wall so you can cycle quickly through ideas in true scale. Once you have an idea you like you can still use a single brad nail or tape to temporarily put some boards up to get a better idea of what things will look like in true scale.

I hope this helps, good luck with your project!
