Need help finishing living room

Hello, I could really use some help putting the finishing touches on this living room.

Pillows: Could you please give me some suggestions as to what color and shape of pillows to get for both the sofa and the two armless chairs. They are both a champagne type color, Though the chairs are a shade or two darker. Any suggestions on patterns?

A piece and lamp for the other side of the couch:
I am also looking to find a table and lamp for the left side of the couch. I was hoping to find something close to what I have on the right side, but it has been very difficult to find. The table was a custom piece which I acquired with the help of the decorator a long time ago. It is also been difficult to find an urn lamp close to what is already pictured. Any suggestions? I have already spent hours scouring the Internet.

I thought that I would have a bit of fun with your space! I put together a plan for your room using what you have and adding just a few things to soften and lighten up. I kept the current layout and styled the space in fresh traditional. I brought in in lighter area rug and then cooled down the pallet with some silver, cream, and gray.

Your pretty one-of-a-kind table should be placed between the slipper chairs. Move the sofa more in to the room and add a narrow sofa table behind it where a lamp may be placed.

a sample although not your style or colors: It appears a sage green from your rug would be a good compliment in pillows for the sofa.

You could go for something fun like prints and floral and colors burnt orange, yellow, light blue.
You could use a fun floor lamp on one of the corners and move the table lamp near the curtain corner of the sofa.

If you were willing I would highly recommend to change the rug a lighter color with less going on or just for a shag white rug or a shag morocon rug.

Yes, that is a good plan Patricia said. You could do a couple of things and it would be fun to try. Do you own furniture sliders?

you could put the slipper chairs perpendicular to sofa facing window, but straight, with the round table in the corner that is created. Then put the two arm chairs in the window on an angle.if you have a sofa table behind the couch, put another lamp opposite of the lamp on round table. That will give you much more lighting.
It will allow you to have more room at bottom of stairs with that layout as well. The slipper chairs can not take large pillow, so,just look for little pillow that is rectangular, like a "lumbar or boudoir " pillow. It is a very nice room.

Thank you very much both of you for your suggestions. Chanel, I got the rug not very long ago so I would probably stick with it. I am very intrigued by the photo you showed. I will explore it as that room has so many elements of our room. Thank you.

Sunnydrew - I'll change the chairs around like you suggested, but I do not have a sofa table. It is up against the wall. I am going to check out floor lamps, too. You guys rock!

Thank you, Patricia. I never thought of doing a sofa table. What is your thought as to finish? Black like the finish on the mirrors or something lighter to match the end table with lamp? You can't tell from the photo, but behind the slipper chairs is our entryway/foyer. My only hesitation with moving the round table and lamp there is that it would create a "walled" feeling as you walk in the house, and there is no plug nearby. Thank you.

a glass topped light colored metal sofa table (8") would be nice. your mirrors and the table would dance light from a small lamp or two on the sofa table. I would not put a lamp on the table between the slipper chairs. by adding the table between the slipper chairs the rest of furniture would look more balanced.

I think a weathered wood coffee table would look nice. Glass tables show so much dust. I got rid of ours.

Your lamps don't have to match. Get something in the same style that is the same height as the current lamp.

I would also move the custom table between the slipper chairs. Then I'd center the sofa and mirrors between the curtains and the corner and put smaller, matching end tables on both ends of the sofa.

Trish, Thank you very much for the thought you have put into this. They are lovely suggestions. I am wishing I had sought out advice before I had purchased the rug. However, I will probably hang onto it and try to work with it as I got it fairly recently. I also just got the mirrors and had them hung about 2 days ago. LOL. What kills me is that the color palette you suggested would perfectly complement the colors of my dining room right next to the living room (not pictured.)

Your assembly looks quite crowded -- can you actually walk between all pieces and the coffee table? If it's as tight as my eye says, then definitely *don't* move the couch away from the wall. I like grover's suggestions about matching tables and centering the couch, and I also think that the slipper chairs would be grounded by getting that little table between them. I like the rug, but I think you'd be well served by a smaller coffee table that has a little more presence, either through black metal or through solidity. Then see if you can find a couple of pillows with the wall grey and the rug red to tie things together -- couch should be enough; if you put some on the armless chairs, you'll spend all your time picking them up and putting them back! :)

Thank you, ACM. Yes, it is a bit crowded though just enough room to walk around. The picture is a bit deceiving. But, like you said, I can't really sacrifice any space by moving the couch forward though if I had a little more space, it would be lovely. I moved the chairs around per some suggestions which really opened things up. My custom end table is about 30" dia, so it would be a tight fit between the slipper chairs. Maybe something smaller, or a drum/barrel piece of some sort?

Can you put those two armless chairs on the window side and the plaid opposite, then post a photo? They feel a little, "heavy" where they are now.

Looking again, I would love to see a photo of the sofa in front of the window, and the two armless chairs flanking your end table, centered on the mirror wall. It appears those chair backs are slightly taller than the sofa and placing that way could break up that horizontal line.

Hi, I prefer the first change too. Your unique end table would be too tall to go between the slipper chairs. I'd be tempted to put the table with the lamp on the other side of your sofa so you see more of it and put a floorlamp in the corner.
How about something like this as a coffee table? With its short end on the sofa side. Or turn the one you have now around so you have more space between chairs and table :-)
