    That my wonderful friends is soapstone and it is an amazing product. I live in Virginia where one of 2 quarries are located in the United States. I went there and picked out my counters.....You can leave them like that in their natural state or you can oil them with Walnut oil and then they are black. I love it. It is even a material you can saw and place on your own...it is soft.

    No bacteria can live on it either. It is amazing
