Hello, where is the first photo being taken from? Kitchen? Dining room? Also, what is past the tree. I need some more views of the room to see what ideas I could come up with. I love rearranging furniture!

Hi Liz B - The first photo is taken from the entryway. The second photo is taken from the kitchen.

Ok. If you moved the media furniture in between the windows. Then, got a long sleek (as in not over stuffed) couch and placed it where your love seat is now. Behind the couch you would place a table approx the length of the couch, with a shelf so you could use it to display nice items and/or books. On top of the table would be two medium to talk lamps on either end. The wall with the existing media furniture would house two chairs, I would do matching. On the right side of the right chair a side table with a free standing lamp. On the wall above the chairs I would do a gallery wall with photos of your family interspersed with some similar sized mirrors. In the middle of the couch and chairs would be a sturdy round coffee table. Preferably with some sort of storage. You could always shift this layout so the couch is up against current media wall with table behind. However you would surrender storage. I have two children as well and I need all the storage I can find! You could also keep the furniture neutral colors and purchase a nice big colorful rug to for under the furniture. Then add pops of coordinating color with throw pillows and blankets if in a cold climate. Please show us what you come up with!

I'd move the media components to the other wall, centered between the windows, and hang the tv on the wall. Then I'd get a sofa to run parallel to the window wall, and chairs to face in on either side, and a large, square table. (Or 3 loveseats, in a U, depending on your seating needs.)

I feel your bookshelves are too thin by themselves. I would buy wider ones. I would also buy a love seat to face the media wall or couch if you have room. Add two comfy chairs on each side. Leather would be nice for all and easier to keep clean. Add larger more vibrant artwork.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'd prefer to leave the media on that wall, but I am open to changing out the cabinets & shelves to white to brighten the room.
