Don't know of anyone who's doing that, but it sounds like a good idea! Would make watering those pots easier, too...

Just make sure your balcony can support the weight of all that water! If you are thinking of making it like a small pond, that is. If the wading pool will just be a sort of large container or border for the mini garden, then it won't be a problem. =)

It's just the same as doing a Water Container Garden, Half Barrel, etc.

Very easy to do and a lot of bang for the buck!

Just don't forget 'Skeeter' control.

You are definitely not the first to do it. But why put the plants in pots?

In the link below it says somewhere a filled 6ft. pool weighs up to 350lbs. Considering that the weight is distributed over a 6ft. diameter area, this is not too bad at all.

I have two of these. One has annuals and perennials, in full sun. The other houses hostas in semi-shade. All I did was make some drainage holes in the bottom and sides, add my soil, and plant. My flowers love them!

I have 2 pools I grow all my looseleaf lettuces in.
