Hi, Canadian Tire had it 1-2 yrs ago, and it's called '... soil conditioner' (forgot the 'name', but I think it's the only one like it they carry, and the clerk I spoke to knew it was also called Profile (I got lucky, I guess :). Just describe it to them... tiny flakey looking hard grayish-pinkish bits - a bit like old fashioned clay Kitty Litter (not the new clumping kind) - but of course never use KL because it turns to mush in the soil.

Turface and Shultz Clay Soil Conditioner are essentially identical, both being made by Profile,LLC.

John is correct in stating that ÂShultz Clay Soil Conditioner and ÂProfile Turface MVP are essentially identical. Profile is the name of the manufacturer that makes Turface MVP. If you check out ProfileÂs website at http://www.turface.com/ you can read about Turface which is manufactured as a sports field conditioner, and has been used successfully as a component of bonsai mix. Their website has an 800 number, which I called to locate it locally here in Florida. A 40 pound bag of Profile Turface here in the states sells for $12.00 and Shultz charges $20.00 for the same bag, but under their name. I guess we are paying for the Shultz name! I purchased the Shultz bag and noticed that it had both their name and ProfileÂs on it, so it is understood that Profile packages it for Shultz. My bonsai mix consists of equal parts of Turface, Pine Bark & Lava Rock for my tropical trees. Good luck finding it in Toronto. Are you guyÂs sick of winter yet? SorryÂ

Profile has far to many fines 30-50% is under a 1/16". Turface MVP has less 20-30%. If you sift out every thing under an 1/8 you'll loose 90%.

A little better link might be to Free Shipping on lava . The above link showed 3 items that weren't lava. Same idea. At least this is free shipping. A little pricey I'd say, but then I haven't shopped for lava lately.
