Hi birchlog;

The color saturation in blooms of Appleblossom as well as BabyStar is very very dependent on the light conditions!

Yes, your photo image shows clearly an indoors forced Appleblossom bloom!

Forcing outdoors (cold and bright) yields the darkest blooms with apparently even more bloom substance (Appleblossom has per se a good substance). An unexperienced person could take them for another cultivar. (Photos-of-proof are in preparation)

BTW: Did you ever obtain seeds from your Appleblossom?!

This plant is outside in the garden, I got it last year in a clearance rack. I took the photo with the camera on macro to get the black background you see. It did bloom inside last year however. The bed is in a shaded area of my yard. I'll go take a pick of the plant and post it in a bit.

I'm hoping to get seeds this year from this beauty. Here is the plant outside in the under construction garden.

Hello birchlog...

seedpod or not seedpod...that is the question here..
and my outdoors forced Appleblossom, giant but pale, too, refused once more to form seeds. I am sooo angry with it. I gave it its last chance OUTDOORS.

Please report on your observations!

Hans-Werner

No seeds this year, but it was it's first outdoors. Next spring, I will fertilize myself if I have to, and see what happens.
